Helping Up Mission Project Spotlight

Baltimore City based nonprofit Helping Up Mission officially opened their doors to a new facility- and a new legacy of hope. Helping Up Mission’s new 150,000 square-foot Center for Women and Children will serve up to 200 women experiencing addiction or homelessness by meeting their physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and care needs for about 50 children. This women’s only center, the first facility in the mission’s history of serving more than just men, held its ribbon cutting in December 2021.

Vision Technologies was honored to celebrate the opening alongside Helping Up Mission and their building contractor Whiting-Turner. After Whiting-Turner demolished the existing four-story building and constructed a new eight-story residential-care facility, Vision’s audio-visual, security, wireless, and network infrastructure teams got to work inside. Vision provided a robust suite of technology and services including:

  • access control and security systems;
  • Wi-Fi system;
  • network infrastructure cabling; and
  • audio visual systems, including the boardroom, and auditorium featuring a 220” LED videowall.

Access control and security are vital to creating a safe environment for the women and children of Helping Up Mission. The video-surveillance security cameras and converged security solutions installed by Vision are designed to protect the women, children, property, and personal assets by controlling access and monitoring all entryways. Meanwhile, structured cabling and wi-fi connection enable mission directors to facilitate successful programs such as training and group classes, while also hosting board meetings.

Spiritual recovery is an important facet of Helping Up Mission. The installed LED videowall, room monitors, and various audio-visual solutions help bring services and large gatherings, such as the ribbon cutting ceremony pictured above, to life.

This center is truly Vision’s slogan realized, a mission of Making Vision Reality. This vision is one of realizing Helping Up Mission’s purpose in helping women and children in need to become a reality and watch hope come to life. The first cohort of 40 women, and the many more to come, now have a place that fosters a healing community in a visually appealing, safe, connected community home.

See hope come to life.
